A left-wing political effort backing Israel-critical New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani is led by a niece of a China-based billionaire known for funding radical groups in the U.S., according to the New York Post.

Alicia Singham Goodwin, 33, who serves as political director of the progressive nonprofit Jews for Racial and Economic Justice, spearheaded the Jews for Zohran campaign, according to the New York Post. The initiative aims to shield Mamdani from accusations of antisemitism and secure support from Jewish voters, the Post reported. We had our own voter file and phone banks targeting Jewish voters, with Jews talking to Jews, Singham Goodwin said during a July 1 interview on WBAI radio, the New York Post reported. We developed talking points about antisemitism and ways for volunteers to engage.

Jews for Zohran is actively courting Jewish politicians such as Comptroller Brad Lander and Democratic New York Rep. Jerry Nadler to back Mamdani, while also attempting to sway other prominent Jewish leaders, including Democratic New York Sen. Chuck Schumer and Democratic New York Rep. Dan Goldman, according to the New York Post.

Former Queens Democratic City Councilman Rory Lancman called the campaign frightening, citing Mamdanis controversial defense of the globalize the Intifada slogan, according to the New York Post.

The demonization of Israel leads to demonization of Jews who support Israel, which is the overwhelming majority of U.S. Jews, Lancman told the Post. He warned the Post that gaining endorsements from Jewish officials could normalize antisemitic views cloaked as political discourse.

Singham Goodwin is the niece of Marxist billionaire Neville Roy Singham, who moved to Shanghai after selling his software company Thoughtworks for $785 million in 2017 and has since bankrolled groups aligned with Beijings agenda, the Post reported.

Singham Goodwins mother Shanti Singham is Roy Singhams sister and holds a leadership role at the Chinese state-run East China Normal University. She has promoted Confucius Institutes, which have faced criticism for spreading Chinese government influence.

Alicias father Daniel Goodwin worked as counsel and executive at Thoughtworks. House Republicans have sought to question him over possible connections to groups involved in protests against immigration enforcement in Los Angeles, the Post reported.

Singham Goodwin herself is linked to other radical left organizations, like Code Pink, founded by her uncles wife Jodie Evans, the Post reported.
