With the expansion of night services, MV aims to improve access from Budapest to suburban and rural areas. According to a report by HVG , the new schedule includes the following updates:

  • Toward GyQr: A new night train will run on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays from Dli Railway Station to GyQr at 1:25 AM. This service connects directly to the extended metro schedule.

  • Toward Dabas: On the BudapestLajosmizse line, starting July 6, a new train will depart from Nyugati Railway Station at 12:30 AM toward Dabas on weekends and holidays. The last train toward Lajosmizse will also be adjusted: from Sunday to Thursday, it will depart 35 minutes later at night, and from Monday to Friday, it will leave at 12:05 AM to ensure passengers can catch it after the final M3 metro at KQbnya-Kispest.

  • Toward Balatonfred: The popular Bagolyvonat (Owl Train) will also see schedule changes. Starting July 5, the train that departs from Dli at 1:40 AM on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays will now run 20 minutes earlier along the entire route.

MV has announced that starting 28 July, night services will also be expanded on the Esztergom and Veresegyhz lines once renovations at RkosrendezQ Station are completed. This will be welcome news for those heading to concerts, meet-ups, or city events over summer weekends who want an easy ride home.

The updated schedule also supports tourism in the capital: with nighttime trains, its easier for travellers from outside Budapest to attend evening eventswhether its a concert in the city or a party by Lake Balaton. The expansion is closely synced with the citys transport system, so you wont miss your train even after the last metro.

MVs train schedules and night departure times are subject to change, so travellers are advised to check the official MV website or the MV app for the latest details.
