Governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) have expressed deep grief over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his death as a profound national loss and a painful moment for the country.

In a condolence message issued on behalf of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, said the governors received the news of Buharis death with profound shock and sadness.

The Forum extends its heartfelt condolences to all Nigerians and the family of the late former President, describing his death as a monumental loss not just to his immediate family but to the nation at large, Uzodimma stated.

He described the former President as an embodiment of honest and dedicated leadership, whose life was defined by integrity, patriotism, and a rare commitment to public service.

With the passing of President Buhari, Nigeria bids farewell to one of its most emblematic figures of honest and dedicated leadershipan era shaped by integrity, patriotism, and uncommon sacrifice, he said.

Governor Uzodimma further praised Buharis long and distinguished service to the country, first as a military leader and later as a civilian president, adding that his contribution to the development of Nigeria would remain indelible.

President Buhari was an unparalleled patriot who, after a distinguished career in the military, returned through democratic means to continue serving the country with honour and commitment, Uzodimma added.

He noted that Buharis tenure stood out for its relentless war against corruption and moral decay in public life, citing his unwavering commitment to instilling discipline and transparency in governance.

His determined stance against corruption and indisciplineprinciples he upheld both as a military head of state and as a democratically elected presidentremain part of his enduring legacy, he said.

Describing Buharis leadership as a moral compass for transparent and accountable governance, the PGF Chairman said the late leaders values would continue to guide present and future leaders in Nigeria and across Africa.

While joining Nigerians and President Bola Tinubu in mourning the former leader, Uzodimma prayed for Buharis eternal rest.
