A super dad has rubbished the notion that children need their mothers more in the first three years of their lives therefore mothers should give up their careers.
It began after mom of three, Sisi Yemmie advised parents on X:
“Once you start having kids, 1 parent should be flexible – can be the dad or the mum but flexibility is important. I don’t know how parents who have early work hours and close late cope.”
Reacting to the post, social media commentator Solomon Buchi wrote that mothers are the ones who should take a break from their careers to be with their kids during the first three years of their lives.
However, a Nigerian father disputed this by showing how he took time off work to be there during his infant’s developmental stage. He added that it’s been rewarding and even after he resumed work, his daughter looks for him always.
The proud dad went on to tell men that if they miss the developmental stage, it may be hard to catch up during the toddler years.
He added that his father and other men in his family were equally hands-on with their kids.
